Standardizing software routines

At VDL Steelweld we taken the first steps into generation software for some of our software building blocks in order to save time on software writing and error proofing. Using the package TIA portal Openness we are now generating part of our PLC software architecture for our automation projects.

As a project oriented automation company each project at VDL Steelweld is different which would mean a new coding exercise for each automation. Finding the compatible parts and using an architecture based on software building blocks increase the synergy across our projects and ability to re-use our own work. To generate the parts automatically what needs to be modified, add or adapted will increase our efficiency even further in a challenging and complex software environment.
